This course considered more less equivalent to ITI Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning mechanic(Govt. of Kerala) which offers prestigious job opportunities to secure quick well –paying employment in various Indian and abroad Govt. concerns and such other royal companies like Voltas , Goderaj , Allwyn , Kelvinator etc. to serve as Plant Engineer, Foremen, Supervisor , A.C. Mechanics , Draughtsman etc. Moreover the candidate gets confidence to convert himself to open a service station , workshop etc.

This is a course which attracts lot of students as it is a forerunner in employment opportunity in our country and the Middle East. There are numerous brands of refrigerators and ACs are available in the market and this is the reason why there are lots of job opportunities. The institute teaches students the basics of electricity, refrigeration and air conditioning along with practical knowledge in our well-equipped lab with a sufficient number of refrigerators and air conditioners. Samples of the latest type of refrigerators and air conditioners are also available to make the students aware of the latest technologies in the field. The latest techniques to reduce pollution from CFC gases produced by coolants will also be included. The job opportunities are in showrooms as salesman, service mechanica, repair and maintenance staff etc. It also acts as a starting point for self employment.

The Kerala Government Certificate Examination (KGCE) in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is a two-year course that provides students with the skills and knowledge to work in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry:

• Eligibility: Students must have passed the S.S.L.C. or equivalent exam
• Course content: Students learn about the basics of electrical and electronics components, how to identify electrical safety, and how to work with and maintain evaporators, condensers, and expansion devices. They also learn how to service and descale condensers, and how to perform fitting jobs such as marking, sawing, filing, drilling, reaming, tapping, and dieing.
• Medium of instruction: The course is taught in both English and Malayalam
• Exam: The final exam is conducted by the Controller of Technical Examinations, and successful candidates receive a certificate from the Joint Controller of Technical Examinations
• Pass mark: To pass, students must score at least 40% in each theory paper, drawing, and practical exam

Minimum Qualification: Pass in X th class or equivalent
Duration: 2 years
